Raise your joy level by taking a vacation in your mind today.
The most important step in finding your everyday joy is deciding that you want it. Once you have the conviction that everyday joy is what you desire, take time to “feel” this in your mind, body, and emotions.
It is possible to create a state of joy.
One very quick and effective way to raise your happiness factor is to take an “imagination vacation”. This is the simple act of taking 5-10 minutes to sit quietly and go somewhere fun and uplifting. In effect, you are going on a “vacation in your mind”.
Be specific in your imaginary vacation scenario. The more specific, the better the experience. Are you at the beach? What color is the sand? How fine is the grain? Are you at an ocean beach? Smell the salt water. Hear the gulls and other shore birds. See the waves rolling lazily up on the sand. Feel the sun’s warmth.
Does the water touch your toes? Does it tickle them?
Are you walking on the beach? Who do you see walking towards you, or are you alone?
Fill your lungs with the fresh, warm sea air!
Travel to another country
Perhaps you would prefer to travel to a different country? Think of the myriad of smells, colors, languages! What would you like to do while you are there? Where will your sleep? How would you expect to interact with the people? Will you explore the country with a tour, or venture off on your own? Will you travel with someone, or alone?
Renew by having an adventure with your favorite friends
Maybe you are on an adventure hiking with your favorite friends. Where will you go? Is it a difficult hike or a day hiking at a local park? Is the sun shining? What time of year is it? What experiences do you expect to experience?
Are you one who is uplifted by the sounds and sights of city life? What would an “imagination vacation” look like for you? Would it be a concert? A party? Night life? A day of shop-til-you-drop? Eating ethnic foods? Sitting at a corner café with a cuppa and people-watching? Perhaps you just want to be somewhere in the middle of it all, but moving at your own pace and whim?
Does the city call you?
Your soul thrives on expansion. In other words, your soul thrives on imagination that takes you to new places. If you are willing to play, there is a lot of fun in this.
Yes, it is possible to create a state of joy. Most people believe that things/people/jobs/events (aka outside influences) need to be a certain way before they can be happy. Actually, it is the other way around if you want to find everyday joy. Happiness IS a choice. Choose to be happy and “things” will fall into place for you far more smoothly. A fun, easy way to create a state of happiness is to take an “imagination vacation”.
